Student Gov are cash pigs

Unread post by WAD »

Well as I sat by my computer eagerly awaiting my student government email to see what kind of things they pasted this week, with out much discussion. There beautiful meeting only lasted all of 30 minutes, the seconds were left in out sadly. It was during this seemingly short period they decided to do only two things. First, of all the Morningside College Student Government has decided/proposed to help out some aids women in Rwanda, with a raffle. Which, is a rather nice thing to do, and the thought brought a tear to my eye.

It was before this that all (21-0) decided to raise their pay.
a. President: $1,200 to $2000
b. Vice-President: $1000 to $1,800
c. Secretary: $800 to $1,600
d. Treasurer: $800 to $1,600
e. Advocate: $800 to $1,600

All 5 of them got 800 dollar increases, effectively doubling, the secretary, Treasurer, and Advocate. Apparently, the Pres and Vice Pres, I guess thought they would save 400 dollars which in total is a 4000 dollar increase. W.T.F. 4 Grand. I mean you doubled everyone’s salary, Is the job going to be twice as hard? I highly doubt it. How many other schools actually pay there Student governments, or should we say the student government paying themselves? This is all after they claimed a year or two ago that they did not have enough money to do programs for we the students of Morningside College, thus the student body voted in favor of allowing them to raise our activity fees. They must have gotten the idea that since we pay double what we use to, to the fact that they should pay themselves double of what they think they are worth, that they set themselves. This is so completely unethical, and effectively/essentially stealing from the students it is pathetic. Wow! Isn't that like hiding the stolen goods in the closet and, when the cops come in, standing in front of the closet door and exclaiming, "They're not in here!"?

Student government starts out somewhere in the range 80,000-90,000 a year. There total pay is going to be 8,600 next year effectually making their pay 10% of what they take in. I know I am supposed to give 10% to God but to the Morningside College Student Government?

I guess my major problem with this is that there is no over sight besides voting for them, this being that the students that receive those positions, have to be in student government for one to two years prior to that. I for one would like this to be voted for by the students and not the people in the receiving end. This is pretty unethical and is basically a fleecing of Morningside College.

I would like those who voted for this increase to turn the money they have received back to the Student government, and/or donate it to the Rwanda program, because cows for women with aids in Africa are probably worth more then what I consider you (the Morningside College Student Government) as of right now.

Optional if space allows: (Erics inspiration)
Scabrous brigands speak in order to conceal -- or at least to veil -- their thoughts. In that context, one could say that revisionism has its stronghold among malodorous, whiney knuckle-draggers. That conclusion is not based on some sort of featherbrained philosophy or on this supposable Morningside College Student Government -style of mental masturbation, but on widely known and proven principles of ethical representation that has shown me no reason for a pay increase. These principles explain that The Morningside College Student Government is stepping over the line when they attempt to turn positions of leadership into positions of complacency -- way over the line. Morningside College’s Student Government is not just stupid. They are unbelievably, astronomically stupid, to think that they could just slide this by everyone (the Students of Morningside College). The Morningside College Student Government has placed indelible imprimatur upon a form of racialism that is fundamentally, pervasively, and inescapably rotten. Sadly, lack of space prevents me from elaborating further.
