Ok, totaling Grants, mine, and Jaysons contributions, we can purchase a $550-$600 bus. Kevin, ask David how much he is willing to put down, and what about you and Eric? Oh yeah and if we are going to register, we have a week.

I can fork over whatever, I assume my parents will help fund unless I actually make some money soon. As for registering, I don't really care either way since I won't be there the whole week.

I'll prolly be seeing david this weekend, so I'll be sure and talk to him about it. As for money, I'm not sure how much i can put out, but my repair skills are at hand.

Ok, it seems like we can probably cover a $1000 bus, now to find one. Check that bus out sometime.

Everyone needs to register NOW!!!

Follow these steps:

1) go to www.ragbrai.com

hit register on the left

2) click fill out an application online

3) have you registered before? click NO

4) registering with a group? click YES

5) existing group? click YES

Group number is: 12635

6) make sure the group name is VINYL, then click YES

7) CAREFULLY fill out the sheet -- Dan, you only pay$35 because you are a non-rider

8) print out https://ssl1.gmti.com/dmregister/dmform ... waiver.pdf

and sign it

9) write a check for your total cost to me

(I have to handle all our shit because I'm the group contact.)

David Samuelson

10) overnight mail the check and waiver to me at:

David Samuelson

1420 Eaton Davidson

Ames, IA 50012

I need them to have EVERYONES shit together and postmarked by April 1st. Get them to me ASAP. If you don't get it to me by March 30, I might not be able to register you. (And in order to register as a group, I need to submit everything and all cash in a single packet.)

Do this NOW or you will not get in. Don't bitch to me if you don't get registered.

Get off your asses NOW.

We also need to seriously consider buying a bus. If we do get one, need to think about:

1) where are we going to store it when we are not on ragbrai?

2) insurance

3) title/plates

------------------------------------------------------------------

if we want one, or if we want any vehicle

(the answer to that is probably yes)

By MARCH 31 I NEED

1) vehicle type (bus or rv/ 24' truck/ other)

2) driver's name

3) driver's DOB

4) license plate # and state of vehicle (maybe I sent an email to ragbrai to find out)

How much will you chip in? The budget is the only thing keeping us from getting one because we don't know what it is.

I think if we bought a bus for approx 1000, we would be able to cover it. Also, I filled out the form and will send the check/waiver tonight.

There are a number of storage options, the cheapest being someone's land. I know a couple buses are stored at the sotrage place on Highway 75 across from Jolly Time. There is also a couple places around like the one in Sgt. Bluff. Which is cheapest, we will have to find out.

Is it also worth it to get a big ole fuckin bus for one year? What will we do with it after this summer?

That would be pretty good, but the location is a but unfortunate. In response to Erics question, we probably wouldnt use it again, but we could sell it again possibly.

eBay is a shit place to buy a bus, look locally. Registration on old vehicles is usually pretty cheap, I don't know about buses though. Since we won't be driving it much we may be able to work out a deal to insure it, Dan should probably look into that since he's driving. I don't think we have enough people right now to justify a bus. Maybe we should get on the Ragbrai forums and sell rides to the start location.

We could get by with just a van or suburban or something. Honestly, theres no point in having a bus unless you guys would be performing every night, so we'd have someplace to put your shit. Since Eric is leaving partway through and we haven't registered to play in any of the towns, its not likely.

Well fucking, let's just bring like 2 suburbans and we'll play 2 or 3 nights early in the week if you guys want. I'd really want to before I leave. My mum would be willing to drive the other suburban the first day and I could take over after that since I know I'll die if I try to ride 2 days.

Yeah maybe Dan can bring the explorer, Transporting bikes is the only problem. We have a 4-bike receiver mount carrier. What else do we have?

Yeah, I have a four man too. However since I have class that week, I might have to leave early as well. Which is clearly no fun.

If we had two large sport type utility vehicles, I think we could cram in all our gear.
